Juvenile Huntington's Disease

Juvenile Huntington's Disease is,A degenerative brain disease.JHD can strike a child at any ages,as young as, 2 months of age,to 20 years of age. It's passed on from their parent whose sick. It doesn't skip generations.

JHD often robs children of all their abilities to talk,walk,swallow,communicate,and control the simplest of functions,such as move their arms,legs...in as short as 5 years but long as 10 years, from the time of onset
of symptoms,and results in death.

Children with JHD not only lose bodily control,BUT may also exsperience, significant pain,siezures,memory loss,slowed learnning,hallucinations,behavioral issues,sleep disorders,sensory issues,increased caloric needs and hydration,and undergo many medical tests and treatments...the list goes on!!

Children with JHD are often labeled and seen as "spoiled" or "lazy".these kids often have symptoms initialy that come and go in severeity.When others do not see the disease,this possibly contributes to the misunderstanding,labels,and their diffuculties?

Not only are these kids loseing skills once developed,or possibly never reaching a milestone,But often they must say goodbeye to simple joys their peers are growing twords,such as driving a car,going to prom,attending a sleepover,ridding a bike,attendinng a full day of school,coloring,writting,skipping,or dressing themselves,many miss out on just hanging out with their freinds...the list goes on.

In spite of all the losses these kids experience,these kids are quite forgiving,patient,and loving individuals,who desire all the same experiences as their peers.Everyone who has been able to love these kids might tell you "it has been a gift to share their lives with them!"
